Grants
Pennsylvania Community Forests Grants Program offers grants to help communities and municipalities realize their goals. Here is a brief description of grants available, who can apply, regional technical contacts and support, and additional resources that can help you and your community, group or municipality better care for your trees.
The following categories of grants for municipal tree commissions and volunteer organizations are designed to support education about trees and natural resources, tree planting and maintenance projects, and help communities develop long term programs to care for their trees.
Please read the grant descriptions and examples before deciding the grant that would work best for your community. Applications can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
It may also help to contact an Extension Urban Forester or a DCNR Service Forester for assistance with your project.

The main objective of this grant is to stimulate communities to initiate systematic improvement programs for public trees which are not receiving regular care, and to develop local resources for continuing tree care, especially periodic pruning. Tree improvement grants will be made available to municipalities and organizations to assist them in implementing a tree care program for street and park trees including trees growing in greenways. Use of grant funds for removal of dead or dying trees is not allowed. |
